Gios Torino Brooklyn 1977
During the the 70's and the 80's, Gios was conquering the European market. Their "Super Record" model was the top model - specifically designed for the more demanding pro cyclists. GIOS is well known since they produced the bikes for the legendary Brooklyn team. Great riders like Roger De Vlaeminck and Patrick Sercui enjoyed incredible success between the years of 1973 and 1977 as the famous GIOS ‘blue’ bicycle was seen in all the classic races - Milano-Sanremo, Parigi-Roubaix, Liege-Bastogne-Liege, Het Volk, etc.
These bikes are rare, especially this one I'm selling here since it still has the original paint and decals. That is something you rarely come across with the first generation of 'these Gios Super Record Brooklyn bikes that were produced between 1973 and 1977. I bought this bike from the first owner. Who bought the bike in 1977. The bike is still in a good condition, considering its age. The parts are in an almost new condition, the frame itself has some patina, but the paint and the decals are the original ones and thats all that counts here.
It's nowadays virtually impossible to find another gios from the 70's that still got the original paint and decals. The original chromed forks are also still in a good condition The frame itself is made out of Columbus tubing and is still in a good condition and has no serious damages like cracks or dents. The only pity is that the last owner has his zip code engraved in the frame. Something that was normal at the time. Fortunately it hardly stands out! Furthermore is the bike equiped with the best Campagnolo had to offer in those days. A complete Campagnolo record group. Pay extra attention to the brakes which are the rarther rare Gold annonized MAFAC Competition brakes. A true masterpiece for every Vintage bike collector! One of the most iconic bikes to decorate your wall at home ;)
